USA Swimming has announced the selection of its Scholastic All-America Team for 2007-08.

National Age Group Record
13 year-old Lia Neal, of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatic, set a new National Age Group Record
in the 13-14 girls 50 Meter Freestyle at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.
Lia's time of 25.89 broke her previous record of 25.94 set earlier this summer.
Lia finished 28th overall in the 50 free.

National Record
Lia Neal of Asphalt Green (AGUA) broke the 11-12 National Record
in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 56.87 at the Burgdorff Invitational in NJ.
The old record was set by Grace Cornelius in 1985.
This time also qualifies Lia for the 2008 Olympic Trials.

Clarification on the Butterfly Rules
Questions had arisen as to how the Butterfly is/will be judged in meets.
Based on a clear interpretation from Bruce Stratton, Chair of the Rules Committee,
the recovery portion of the stroke requires that the arms come forward over the water.
Two points were made:

1) The arm is considered to be from the shoulder to the hand, therefore not including the hand.
2) Officials are to judge based on the calm surface of the water.

Coaches, swimmers, parents and officials should realize that this is not a change
in the rules for Butterfly, it is an emphasis of what the rule states.
